Codobatura galbenă este o pasăre cântătoare din familia Motacillidae. Această specie cuibărește în cea mai mare parte a Europei temperate și a Asiei. Majoritatea populațiilor sunt migratoare, mutându-se iarna în sudul Africii tropicale și în sudul Asiei; mica populație care cuibărește în Egipt este însă rezidentă acolo.
Codobatura galbenă este o pasăre migratoare ce îngălbenește câmpurile proaspăt înverzite ale primăverii, imposibil de confundat cu o altă pasăre. Penajul este predominant de culoare galbenă. Capul codobaturii galbene este cenușiu gălbui, iar aripile sunt pestrițe-alb cu maro. Sub coadă vom găsi câteva pene albe. Ciocul și picioarele sunt de culoare neagră. Lungimea corpului este de 17 cm cu o anvergură a aripilor de 24-27 cm și o greutate de 16-22 g.
De obicei o găsim în zonele joase de câmpie, mai ales pe malurile râurilor sau ale bălților, acolo unde își găsește ușor hrană care este alcătuită din insecte. Cuibul este construit pe pământ, bine camuflat în iarbă sau vegetație mai înaltă. Femela depune câte 5-6 ouă în două serii pe an.

The yellow wagtail is a songbird belonging to the Motacillidae family. This species breeds across most of temperate Europe and Asia. Most populations are migratory, moving to southern tropical Africa and southern Asia for the winter; however, the small population that breeds in Egypt is resident there.
The yellow wagtail is a migratory bird that adds a splash of yellow to the freshly green fields of spring – a bird impossible to mistake for any other. Its plumage is predominantly yellow. The head is a yellowish-grey, while the wings are mottled with white and brown. There are a few white feathers beneath the tail. The beak and legs are black. The bird has a body length of 17 cm, a wingspan of 24-27 cm, and weighs between 16 and 22 g.
It is typically found in low-lying areas, especially along the banks of rivers or ponds, where it can easily find its food – consisting primarily of insects. The nest is built on the ground, well-camouflaged within grass or taller vegetation. The female lays 5-6 eggs, producing two clutches per year.
